1. Why are you running for the board, and what skill sets do you bring to the table?

I am drawn to and inspired by the Co-op’s mission to serve its diverse community. As a board member, I will do what I can to make sure that people who want to get involved with the Co-op can do so, regardless of income or any other social or cultural barriers. The strength and skills I will bring to the Co-op are my experience working with diverse populations, motivating people to work towards a common goal, and networking with community partners. I have demonstrated these skills in my work developing and coordinating the East 40 Community Garden at Northampton Community College over the past 8 years; directing large grants aimed at understanding the impact of race, ethnicity, and income on individuals living in local food deserts; and with the Co-op, developing both its community education program and the Community Hubs program.

2. What do you believe is the value of cooperative enterprise in today’s economy?

The value of a cooperative enterprise in today’s economy is the investment it allows individuals to make for both themselves and their community. The Bethlehem Food Co-op in particular will benefit the community by providing people with access to sustainable and cost-conscious food. In addition to the Co-op's presence as a business by and for the community, it will also serve as a place for locals to become engaged and empowered citizens for themselves and for their neighbors.

3. What aisle can we expect to see you shopping in when our co-op opens?

I look forward to shopping in all of the aisles and taking full advantage of the Co-op’s offerings as a full-service grocery store.
